2018 bmw x1 for
Sharp controls make driving fun
Plenty of rear passenger and cargo space
The standard sport suspension can be annoying on rough roads.
Unless you specifically need the all-weather capability of the xDrive28i all-wheel drive, we recommend the front-wheel drive X1 sDrive28i with the Convenience package. Add Apple CarPlay and Park Distance Control options, and you have a luxury car that's well-equipped without breaking the bank.
With the rise of smaller, parking-friendly SUVs, traditional vehicles like sedans and vans are left in the dust. And SUVs like the 2018 BMW X1 show why. Its small size is ideal for city driving, while its low load floor and large cargo volume are ideal for transporting goods. It's more expensive than many of its traditional competitors, but the BMW X1 aims to give compact crossover buyers who want something sportier or more luxurious a good choice in this already crowded market.
It starts with a 2.0-liter turboch 2018 bmw x1 for arged four-cylinder engine (228 hp) that sends power to either the front wheels or, optionally, to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Either drivetrain combination is flashy yet smooth, and the X1 can hit 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, class-leading. But the X1 isn't just about sportiness; 40/20/40 split rear seat backrest increases flexibility while carrying large or bulky items and people at the same time.
But the 2018 BMW X1 also has its downsides. For starters, the same sticky tire and sport suspension that keeps the chassis stable and stuck in corners also transmits high frequency bumps and noise into the cabin. While noise levels are no worse than others, riding hard on bumpy surfaces can leave riders wanting a softer setting. Also, technology features that are standard or bundled into essential option groups, such as parking sensors and Apple CarPlay connectivity, are standalone options, so double check your build sheet before moving on to the car.
Overall, however, the functional and sporty performance of the 2018 BMW X1 deserves a firm recommendation.
