Now it is convenient to read from mobile phones!
In mid-2009, Nokia decided that the company needed to develop the QWERTY segment, as the company missed the boom in touch devices and did not want to be in the same position for new segments as QWERTY phones were considered. At the same time, Nokia has always had the maximum sales of such phones, remember the bestseller Nokia E71, as well as Nokia E63, subsequent models were not so popular. But the company decided to create the maximum number of phones with a built-in QWERTY keyboard and began to work in this direction. The line would be incomplete without a corresponding device on the S40. Let me remind you that it is the S40 that is today one of the most widespread mobile phone platforms on the planet. On the side of this platform, there is a good price / quality ratio, the ability to create inexpensive solutions, and a quick release of models to the market. The disadvantages include the fact that the legacy of the Nokia C3 Blue platform is historically not very strong, there is no multitasking, the implementation of individual functions raises questions. But I emphasize that these disadvantages are leveled for their price groups.
The C3 is aimed at the mass market, it is Nokia's answer to similar products from small companies, as well as the Samsung C3222. Considering the popularity of the Nokia brand in this price segment, as well as the fact that the S60-based smartphone is not needed by many, this phone hit the bull's-eye. Firstly, we are dealing with the familiar to many S40, which has been improved and refined. Secondly, the Nokia brand is strong in the eyes of consumers in this price group, and such a solution automatically becomes popular. Thirdly, the company produces good non-touchscreen phones and if it does not allow defects, then the devices turn out to be quite good.
Who might like the Nokia C3? This question is not as simple as it seems at first glance. In my opinion, the main consumers of the phone will be young people, for them QWERTY solutions look interesting, and they mostly buy them. An older audience, those over 25 and above, are likely to opt for more expensive solutions. It is also worth noting that this model is well suited for those who write a lot of SMS, but communicate little in mail, do not use the phone for anything other than making calls. In short, a kind of conservative user. Sales of Alcatel's QWERTY models at a similar price point prove this. I think that for Nokia the situation will be about the same.
An ordinary candy bar with a QWERTY-keyboard, the inheritance from Nokia is manifested in all its glory. This phone is a plus, as it is similar to older models. The number of color solutions of the case is equal to three - dark gray, golden, hot pink (Slate Gray, Golden White, Hot Pink). In the golden version, the inserts on the back of the case are white, in others they are black.
The phone measures 115.5x58.1x13.6 mm and weighs 114 grams. Everything is typical for such a device, it is wide, but it fits well in the hand. The main body material is plastic, but the back cover is made of thin metal. The model does not give rise to any complaints about the build quality. Well-knit, good. The plastic covering the display is soft, as a result, quite deep scratches can appear on it if handled carelessly. I didn’t carry the keys, but somewhere I managed to get a couple of such scratches on my phone.
On the left side there is a memory card slot covered with a plastic flap. There is also a microUSB connector, it is also behind a flap. At the top there is a 2 mm jack for a charger, as well as a 3.5 mm jack for a headset or headphones.
The diagonal of the screen is 2.4 inches, the resolution is 240x320 pixels. The screen is budget-friendly, can display up to 262K colors (TFT). The screen is readable in the sun, we say "thanks" to the large interface elements. The viewing angles are not the best, but that doesn't matter much. In most lists, 5-6 lines fit on the screen; in a browser, for example, it can be a large number of lines (up to 14).
The screen seemed a little dull to me, but considering that there is no task to watch a video on it, and it is needed for typing SMS or reading, then this cannot be noted as a minus.
The keyboard consists of 37 keys, plus two dedicated keys for accessing Messages or Contacts. Traditionally, they can be reassigned to other actions, to indicate which functions will be called wi
